In fifth grade, we continue to build upon foundations from previous years, and now challenge students to learn even more in each of the
core subject areas. In Religion, we focus on the seven sacraments, prayer, family life, as well as service learning.
In Math, students will have mastered basic math facts and begin apply those facts to upper-level procedures and multiple-step problem solving equations.
Social Studies involves exploring the United States from the first Americans to the foundation of present day America.
In English, we focus on the writing process from research and brainstorming strategies to rough and final drafts. In addition, we have vocabulary and spelling.
In Literature, students learn to analyze and appreciate different genres through discussions and reading response writing. Also, students participate in literature circles and learn from each other.
In Science, we incorporate hands-on experiments within our topics of life science, physical science, and astronomy.
Fifth graders are big buddies with 1st graders, are eligible to participate in sports and student council, can participate in our school safety
program, and can be altar servers.
